About EDZ Records
EDZ Records started with a band called The Complainers.
The Complainers released an EP, Get Off My Grass, in November 2004. Two decades later the band picked it back up with a run of singles — Everybody Get Down, Let It Go, The Battle For Earth, Skeeter. Somewhere in there, putting records out properly stopped being an idea and became a label.
That is what EDZ Records is: an independent label based in Maricopa, Arizona. Every release streams on Spotify, and the ones worth holding are pressed to CD and 12-inch vinyl.
The catalogue is built one project at a time. Every name on the roster — Holiday Jazz Songs, Cussin’ Cowboys, Irish Pub Song, Chant Collective, Viking Raid, Confused Genre and the rest — is a separate project with its own sound, its own artwork and its own reason to exist. There are 18 of them so far, spread across about as many styles: holiday jazz, punk, outlaw country, hip hop, sea shanties, Gregorian chant, ska, spy lounge and a good deal of comedy. They are not variations on one house sound, which is why the catalogue reads more like a record shelf than a discography.
33 of those albums are available on CD, from 12 of the projects. Every disc is professionally manufactured in a jewel case with printed artwork and a lyrics insert. A growing number of titles are also pressed on 12-inch vinyl.
